St George win nail biter over Parramatta in the Watson Shield Final Final

St George have taken out the Watson Shield for the eleventh time in a gripping match with a 1 run win over Parramatta in the final played at Hurstville Oval.
Batting first in bowler friendly conditions, St George battled hard to tally 7/178 on the back of a fine innings of 76 from Player of the Final Billy Arena - pictured below with Stuart Clark.
In reply, Parramatta were dismissed for 177 in the 50th over, the last wicket being a direct hit run out by George Kazakonis. Parramatta’s innings was anchored by Rory Grieve with a run a ball 63. Josh Iemma was the pick for the Dragons with the ball taking 3/44.
Also of note, Alex Parthenis (St George) was awarded the inaugural Stuart Clark Medal for the Watson Shield Player of the Year.
